More: www.nydailynews.com – Troubled reality TV star Tila Tequila is on the mend after a medical scare reported as a suicide attempt, her manager said Tuesday.
“Tila continues to recover and is doing better. We ask that her privacy is respected during this difficult time,” manager Gina Rodriguez told the Daily News.
Paramedics responded to a 911 call at Tequila’s Studio City, Calif., address at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday for a medical emergency “in origin” and rushed one patient by ambulance to a local hospital, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department told The News.
The star of MTV’s bisexual dating show “A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila” had suffered a near-fatal aneurysm and overdosed on pills, a source told E! News.
She was found in and out of consciousness in the house after allegedly threatening to kill herself and needed psychiatric help, TMZ.com reported.
Tequila, 30, was later released, but her manager reportedly called 911 again Monday night, prompting a welfare check by police.
She refused to answer the door claiming she was in a wheelchair, and police eventually left, TMZ said.
After gaining fame on MySpace and MTV, Tequila grabbed headlines for her self-described “engagement” to late Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson, the daughter of Jets owner Woody Johnson.
About five months after Johnson’s sudden diabetes-related death in January 2010, Tequila posted a video of her bloody arm on her blog. She claimed one of her multiple personalities slit her wrist open.
The disturbing post was reported by media as both a cry for help and a misguided attempt to burnish her celebrity status.
