SANTA MONICA, CA – The father of adult reporter Tod Hunter died Sunday morning at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center following complications after
surgery. His name is being withheld to maintain the privacy of other members of Hunter’s family. He was 85.
“I saw him a couple days after the surgery and he looked beat up, but he
looked like he would recover,” Hunter said. “The next day, they had to
operate again and that’s when it got bad. Renal failure, ICU, a slow fade.”
A veteran of WWII, he went to Los Angeles City College on the GI Bill, where he met Hunter’s mother. He was a co-founder of a major Los Angeles produce distribution company, specializing in exotic and rare food items including kiwi fruit, which the company exclusively imported into the US from New Zealand in the early ’60s. After leaving that company, he worked in sales and stayed active in retirement, working part-time, traveling and perfecting his golf game.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, including Hunter; a daughter; and
five grandchildren. He was divorced from Hunter’s mother in the early 1970s. Private services are planned for the family.
Expressions of condolence can be sent to Hunter at his mailing address, P.O. Box 570042, Tarzana CA 91357-0042, or his e-mail at [email protected]
