from – A female volunteer basketball coach at Shadow Ridge High School was arrested Thursday on two counts of sexual misconduct with a student and one count of child luring, according to Clark County School District Police.

Angela Hensey [Pictured], 24, was arrested about 4:40 p.m. on suspicion of having an inappropriate relationship with two female students, a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old, authorities said.

Officials were notified by concerned staff members in late January after they noticed Hensey giving the students rides home, Detective Mitch Maciszak said.

School District detectives conducted several interviews during their investigation and found that Hensey allegedly had a consensual sexual relationship with the 16-year-old girl, Maciszak said. Although the age of consent in Nevada is 16 years old, state law prohibits school employees from having sex with students.

Police confronted Hensey, who did not cooperate with officials, Maciszak said. After establishing probable cause, CCSD Police filed an affidavit for an arrest warrant with the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, which granted its request, he said.

Hensey was booked into the Clark County Detention Center with bail set at $22,000, according to the center’s inmate database.

Hensey was an unpaid volunteer assistant coach for the School District for about a month, between December 27, 2012, and January, 30, 2013. She was suspended from her duties during the police investigation and was barred from going on school campuses.

As with all school employees, Hensey underwent a local and federal fingerprint background check, Maciszak said. She lived near Shadow Ridge High School but has moved since the investigation began, Maciszak said. It was not known whether Hensey knew the two students before she became a coach.

Hensey is the second person affiliated with the School District to be arrested on suspicion of pursuing an inappropriate relationship with a student in the past two weeks.

Metro Police arrested Foothill High School teacher Amanda Brennan, 24, Friday on two counts of child luring and one count of contributing to delinquency of a minor.

Maciszak called the timing of the two incidents coincidental and said they were isolated incidents. He urged parents to monitor their children’s social media and cell phone usage, particularly text messages, and alert officials if they see anything inappropriate.

“I feel they are isolated (incidents),” Maciszak said during a press conference Friday morning. “It’s not a common problem.”
