Adam Wilcox writes on www.xxxwasteland.wordpress.com – Selena Rose has been pegged by many adult industry fans and observers as a future superstar of XXX entertainment. In her two years as a contract talent for leading studio Digital Playground, the Cuban beauty’s exotic magnetism and captivating performances in numerous company feature films has earned her thousands of followers and cemented Selena as one of the most promising starlets in the adult world.

Selena kindly granted XXX Wasteland a recent interview to discuss her time as a Digital Playground exclusive, future plans for her career in adult and much more.

Q: You were actually my first interview after I launched my website in September 2010, shortly following your signing as a Digital Playground exclusive. Obviously, much has happened since that time and your career has really taken off. Can you tell us how the experience of being a DP contract performer has been?

It’s really been a thrill! I’ve been a Digital Playground star for two years and I can’t wait for many more years to come. I’ve really grown as a performer and I adore the DP girls. We are so different and bring so much to the table with our unique personas. Digital Playground is growing bigger than ever and I can’t wait for you all to see what’s next.

Q: What are some of your favorite moments of the past couple of years?

Well, I live a crazy life in Miami. Since I turned 18, my life has been wild. My trip to the Virgin Islands this year was so fun! I went snorkeling for the first time ever and had the opportunity to swim with beautiful exotic fish! I looked so cute swimming with sea turtles – I felt like a mermaid. I always have fun everywhere I go!

When I went to Las Vegas for AVN, it was crazy fun, too. I actually won an award for one of my favorite movies, Escaladies.

My trip to Cuba was exciting as well. I met all my family members that don’t live in Miami. I have a few girl cousins that are gorgeous and I got to go out to clubs with them. It was a nice change to be around my extended family; it was an amazing experience.

Q: Which of your movies with Digital Playground rank among your favorites?

One of my all-time favorites has to be my first feature with all the Digital Playground girls – Top Guns. Also, one of our latest movies, Nurses 2. It’s going to be a hit! Who doesn’t love nurses that have an orgy in a hospital room?

Q: Let’s backtrack for a moment: Can you tell us how you entered the adult industry initially?

I started my career like two years ago not knowing anything about porn. I met a guy working as a file clerk and he kept trying to convince me to become an adult star for a really long time. I started working at Hooters and he still followed me, trying to convince me. I finally decided to try it out and make my first film. Getting a contract with Digital Playground was a dream come true! It’s the best adult film company and I’m very grateful!

Q: What do you enjoy most about being an adult film performer?

I enjoy the fact that I get to not only do movies and act, but also be in magazines and travel – doing appearances and getting the star treatment everywhere I go.

Q: Do you have any long-term aspirations for your career that you wish to accomplish?

Basically, I want to enhance my career worldwide and establish a well-known name. I aspire to have my own line of high heels and open up a strip club – it will have a bunch of spicy girls like me.

Q: Were there any misconceptions you had about adult entertainment prior to entering the business that you have discovered to be untrue now that you are part of the industry?

I hadn’t heard much about the adult industry before becoming a porn star. I’ll say that at one point before my first scene, I thought it would be really scary to have a camera man film you with a performer, but actually, it’s not bad. With a camera man, you can tell the performer and director what’s permitted and not permitted. It’s a different career, of course, but it’s pretty cool having a life that is seen as unconventional and rebellious by society’s standards.

Q: On the flip side, is there one misconception about adult by those outside the business that you wish you could dispel?

Basically, civilians that are not in the adult business (that’s what us porn stars call them [Laughs]) think that porn stars all have crazy issues or a mental disorder. I see my work as more of a character that I’m creating – being wanted by hordes of horny fans and saving marriages all around the world. Just like in normal life, there are some porn stars with issues, but I see myself as pretty normal … except that I am a nympho!

Q: You have been featured in a number of high-profile publications since signing with Digital Playground, including Maxim Latin America and Hustler, where you appeared both on the cover and as a centerfold for the March 2012 issue. How did it feel to be asked to participate in such high-profile magazine spreads?

I loved it and can’t wait to be featured in other well-known magazines in the near future.

Q: Can you tell us where you were born and raised?

I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and raised in beautiful Miami. I have a sexy Cuban Miami accent.

Q: Is there one thing about yourself that you feel would surprise most people?

My personality always surprises everyone. I’m an outgoing Leo and I say really random weird stuff, but add a little bit of a twist of flirt with a sexy attitude to it.

Q: Are there any further upcoming or current projects in the works that you would like to mention?

Soon, I will start to do club appearances as well as radio hosting and interviews. Just look out for me! There’s plenty of new projects coming my way.
