CLIFTON, NEW JERSEY [www.wpix.com] — A 14-year-old New Jersey girl is facing child pornography charges for posting her own nude pictures on the MySpace networking site.

According to officials, authorities looked into the case when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children contacted the Passaic County Sheriff’s office about someone posting nude photos of an underage girl on a MySpace profile.

A month long investigation revealed that the person posting the pictures was the girl herself.

“We consider this a wake-up call for parents,” Passaic County sheriff’s spokesman Bill Maer told The Record of Bergen County. “The girl posted the photos because she wanted her boyfriend to see them.”

The teen, whose name has not been released because of her age, has been charged with possession and distribution of child porn. She was later released to her mother’s custody.

Authorities are looking into making additional arrests for anyone who “knowingly” committed a crime by viewing the explicit photos. The case is still under investigation, Maer said.
