Canada- from www.vocm.com – This week the RNC laid a very specific, and troubling, charge for the first time in the province’s history. A 47-year-old St. John’s man is accused of mailing obscene material and possessing child pornography after Canada Border Services seized a package destined for his St. John’s residence. RNC Constable Talia Murphy says the object seized was a sex doll.
Murphy says the doll was deemed to be child pornography. She says it resembles a pre-pubescent female, 4’2″, and is made of a foam-like material. Constable Murphy says it comes with accessories that would be used for sexual gratification purposes.
Darrell Hooper, who is with the Canada Border Services Agency, says officers at the International Mail Centre in Toronto intercepted the package and became suspicious of its contents after it was viewed through an Xray machine on January 30th.
Hooper says the origin of the goods is really not in question. He says it came from overseas, as child pornography can originate from any of the four corners of the world. Hooper says they are fortunate to have been able to take an item like this one off the street.
The man was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
