Florida- Two weeks after her death, Anna Nicole Smith’s voice filled a stunned courtroom yesterday as the former centerfold ranted against her despised mother, whom she sneeringly called “mommy dearest.”

The shocking tape was introduced in an unruly Florida courtroom battle where Smith’s mother, Virgie Arthur, is vying for the right to bury her daughter.

Lawyers for Smith’s companion Howard K. Stern played the tape in an effort to prevent Arthur from getting Smith’s body.

Her voice dripping with venom, Smith declared her disdain for the woman she called “mommy dearest.”

“You want to hear all the things she did to me? You want to hear all the things she let my father do to me, or my brother do to me? Or my sister?” Smith said, glaring at the camera. “All the beatings and the whippin’s and the rape? That’s my mother. That’s my mom!” she snarled.

Stern teared up, prompting a sympathetic court officer to bring tissues.

Arthur, who wore a purple suit and clutched a red flower, raised her brows as if to dismiss the accusations, but she didn’t speak or cry when her dead daughter briefly came to life on screen.

The stunning tape was one of a series of revelations in the raucous courtroom.

The legal struggle over who gets to bury Smith has become so prolonged that the coroner interrupted the court hearing to warn that the corpse is beginning to deteriorate and the proceeding should be speeded up.

It was difficult, however, for Judge Larry Seidlin to keep things moving quickly. The hearing will resume this morning.

Yesterday’s testimony was interrupted by tension and bickering among the lawyers.

Among those in the courtroom was Larry Birkhead, who claims he is the real father of Smith’s infant daughter Dannielynn. He sat just a few feet from Stern and stared holes in him throughout the day.

“You killed Anna,” Birkhead’s lawyer, Debra Opri, allegedly muttered at Stern at one point, prompting an angry outcry from Stern’s lawyer, Krista Barth.

Seidlin told the lawyers to cut it out.

When Stern did get on the stand, he said Smith was crushed by the death of her son Daniel, 20, in her hospital room from a lethal drug cocktail three days after the birth of Dannielynn.

The distraught woman was so unwilling to part with her dead son that she had his casket pried open at the funeral and clamored to “go down with him” into the grave, Stern said.

“She said, ‘If Daniel has to be buried, I want to go down with him right then,'” he testified.

“She was just inconsolable and hugging Daniel and grabbing on to him. … From the day Daniel died, Anna honestly was never the same,” he said.

“She talked about death from the time I met her,” he said.

“In a lot of ways, Anna thought she was going to die young, like Marilyn Monroe, at the age of 36 or 37. She also thought she was going to die giving birth to Danielynn,” he said.

Stern, who says he met Smith in 1996 and became her “not exclusive” lover around 2000, said that after Daniel died, Smith instructed him to look into buying burial plots in the posh Westwood, Calif., cemetery where Monroe is buried. But, he said, it was ” expensive.”

Smith eventually decided on the Bahamas, where she was living, he said. “She wanted Daniel to be near her,” Stern said. He purchased four plots at her request, he said.

Smith at one point wanted to buy a mausoleum because “she was concerned that bugs would get to Daniel. … Both she and Daniel were afraid of bugs,” Stern testified.

At several junctures yesterday Seidlin threatened to seize control of the ongoing paternity battle between Stern and Birkhead, which is raging in a California court.

“Don’t I need to know who the father is?” Seidlin asked the lawyers, suggesting he might order a DNA test. Birkhead has volunteered to take the test, but Stern has resisted it.

Seidlin backed off the paternity matter after chatting in his chambers with the lawyers.

In a Los Angeles court yesterday, Judge Robert Schneider declined to give up the paternity case, but said it’s still not clear which state – or the Bahamas – may have jurisdiction. A custody hearing in the Bahamas is scheduled for tomorrow.
