CINCINNATI — from wlwt.com – Restaurateur Jeff Ruby has taken out an ad in a Florida newspaper barring Hustler publisher Larry Flynt from his restaurants.
Ruby made the decision after Flynt reportedly offered Casey Anthony $500,000 to pose nude in the magazine.
Anthony was acquitted last month of murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, but convicted of four counts of lying to police after the child went missing.
“The only thing as obscene as the verdict is you and her mother circling Caylee’s grave like vultures to see just how much money you two can make from her tragic death,” Ruby said in the ad, which appeared Friday in the Orlando Sentinel.
Ruby publicly banned Flynt, who once owned a nude club in Cincinnati and now owns an adult entertainment store there and has waged numerous legal battles against local authorities, from his establishments in the Tri-state area.
“While I have appreciated your many years of patronage, you have now been ‘OJayed,'” Ruby said. “We don’t want your blood money at any of our seven restaurants.”
Ruby was referring to a 2007 incident, when he kicked out of his Louisville restaurant the former NFL star O.J. Simpson, who was acquitted in 1995 of murdering his ex-wife and another man.
Ruby also used the ad to promote a petition asking federal authorities to try Anthony for murder under the dual sovereignty exception, which permits a defendant to be tried following an acquittal if their alleged actions violated both jurisdictions’ laws.
Ruby said the petition had attracted about 5,000 signatures.
