Australia- from www.news.com.au – A MAN has been jailed for shooting a bouncer at close range outside Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club after being ejected from the venue.
Aaron Placido Sindoni, 23 at the time, opened fire on the security guard at close range after being ejected from the Brunswick club because he had had “too much to drink”.
In the Supreme Court this morning, Justice Bernard Bongiorno handed Sindoni an eight -year jail term with a minimum of six.
The victim, Cedar Ferry, was lucky not to have been killed by a .32 calibre bullet that fractured a rib and lodged permanently in his spine.
After being kicked out on a night in March last year, Sindoni caught a taxi to his home, where he donned a white “hoodie” top and grabbed a .32 calibre semi-automatic pistol and a balaclava.
Upon his return near to the strip club, Sindoni pulled on the balaclava and fired three shots at Mr Ferry from less than a metre away.
“Although you fired more than once at Mr Ferry, fortunately only one bullet struck him,” Justice Bongiorno said.
“To spend 25 minutes obtaining a loaded pistol and a disguise before deliberately shooting someone bespeaks a degree of planning and pre-meditation which makes this offence more serious than many other examples of this crime.”
Justice Bongiorno also slammed the availability of alcohol in the community, and the mass advertising of booze.
In June, a jury found Sindoni guilty of intentionally causing serious injury to Mr Ferry.
