from www.onenewsnow.com – Morality in Media is calling for a federal investigation of the new triple-X domain, which was established earlier this year by the ICM Registry.
In March the registry established the XXX domain specifically for pornography — and the first hardcore porn company is now up and operating under that business model. Pat Trueman [pictured] of Morality in Media (MIM) explains why his group wants a federal probe.
“… Because it’s a violation of federal law to distribute hardcore pornography on the Internet, and it’s a violation of federal law to aid and abet someone to distribute that material or to conspire with them,” Trueman says.
The MIM president contends it is the responsibility of Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate and to prosecute known violations. He goes on to say that proponents of the XXX domain argued it would make the Internet safer.
“ICM Registry, the company behind this, has announced that it has nearly one million new websites that are showing an ‘interest’ in having their site on the XXX domain — but none of these companies, so far as we know, are interested in leaving their .com site and going over to the XXX domain,” the spokesman comments.
According to Trueman, the interested websites are not required to leave one site for another, which he says means pornography will now be far more available on the Internet than ever before.
He stresses that pornography is contributing to grave social harm, which is documented at the website PornHarms.com.
