from www.stuff.co.nz- An Australian porn star says she treasures the pink Bible given to her by a Christian organisation appearing at this weekend’s Parachute Christian music festival.
Australian Playboy TV host Kiki Vidis – a regular at New Zealand pornographer Steve Crow’s Erotica events, who has made more than 50 adult films – said the American organisation xxxchurch.com had given her a Bible at an adult entertainment expo in the United States a few years ago.
The Waikato Times reported, yesterday, that the church was hoping Parachute would be the springboard to establishing a New Zealand branch that would attend Kiwi porn shows.
“They gave me a pretty pink Bible with silver edging,” Vidis said. “They are really respectful, they don’t force it down your throat. They came up and said, ‘you do really wonderful work, but if you ever need help you can always come to Christ. Here’s a Bible’. I loved that.”
She keeps the Bible in her bedside drawer and turns to it on an almost daily basis. “I am not a Christian but I read pages from it to see what it contains and I agree with about half of it.”
Jake Larson, co-founder of xxxchurch.com, also hands out T-shirts with the slogan “Jesus love porn stars”. His organisation’s work has seen porn stars leave the industry, but it also helps people with porn addictions.
Major Paul Clifford, the Hamilton-based director of the Salvation Army’s Addiction Services for the Midland Region, described pornography addiction as a significant problem which affected about 30 per cent of people seeking help.
