Philly Reporter Threatened for Story

Philadelphia- WE AREN’T certain that threatening e-mails sent to CBS 3 reporter Todd Quinones came from members of Club Kama Sutra, but it sure wouldn’t surprise us.

The swingers club, at 712 South St., was closed Nov. 12 by the Department of Licenses and Inspections, which, despite knowing about sex parties at the club since at least August 2001, raided the club as CBS 3 was to air a report about the goings-on there.

Monday night, police turned up at CBS 3 headquarters after Quinones, we’re told, received at least one death threat by e-mail.

“I can confirm we were contacted by Channel 3 regarding an e-mail they received that was threatening in nature,” Police Inspector Bill Colarulo told us yesterday. “But I do not want to elaborate any further regarding the contents of the e-mail or who it was directed to.”

Monday evening, Kama Sutra owner Alan Tizer sent an e-mail to members saying that CBS 3 “broke the law by secretly taping us, should be punished to the fullest extent under the law and should be disgraced…” Among “guilty parties,” Tizer listed Quinones and “the undercover bitch that apparently taped us.”

“CKS has no knowledge of any threats and certainly doesn’t condone any,” Tizer said yesterday.

Yesterday, Quinones declined to discuss the situation with us.

Let us remind the culprits about Jason Collura. Collura, 27, was sentenced earlier this month to up to 23 months in jail, and 14 years probation, for using a Free Library computer to send terroristic threats to Daily News staff.

Kama Sutra, meanwhile, says it has fixed the electrical and fire code issues raised by L&I, and now must apply to the city’s Zoning Board for a use registration permit to host a sex club.

• In other partner-swapping news, another swingers club, the Pleasure Garden Club, just opened in South Philly.

According to its Web site: the pleasuregardenclub.com, the club is “located just off of Route 76, by Route 95 and just off the Walt Whitman Bridge from NJ.”

Asked how it will avoid L&I issues that shuttered Kama Sutra, club spokeswoman Vixen said “We are zoned for adult use.”

House of Blues leaving Troc?

Looks like House of Blues, the nationwide rock club chain, will soon pull out of booking shows at the Trocadero (1003 Arch). It’s booked the club since May 2004.

Next summer, a 600 capacity House of Blues club/restaurant is slated to open at 15th and Chestnut, atop the Grande, which was formerly the Packard Building. In March, you read exclusively in the Daily News that HOB would be moving into that space.

Reps for the Troc did not get back to us. A spokeswoman for HOB says the company will still book some shows at the Troc “but might not have it exclusively.”

Irrera tries to stay fresh

“I always try and write some new stuff, so people know I didn’t lose my pen,” jokes Dom Irrera.

The South Philly-born comic plays the Laff House (221 South) Friday and Saturday nights.

He’s happy that original Doc Watson’s Pub (206 S. 11th) owner Barry Sandrow’s about to reopen the place. He used to work the door there, as did boxer/actor Randall “Tex” Cobb. Irrera says Cobb’s probably tougher than he.

Shows are at 7:30 and 10 p.m. both nights and cost $25. For tix, laffhouse.com or 215-440-HAHA.

T.O. may talk arbitration decision

Terrell Owens may broadcast a radio show on 610 WIP today after an arbitrator this morning announces his decision in T.O.’s grievance against the Eagles.

Miami station 790 The Ticket broadcasts the show that Owens regularly hosts on Friday evenings along with Miami Herald sports columnist Dan LeBatard.

The Ticket told WIP Owens might broadcast today, says ‘IP program director Tom Lee.

The arbitrator is deciding if the Eagles were justified in suspending Owens without pay for conduct detrimental to the team.
