Renowned writer/blogger Richard Abowitz is planning to go to Washington to cover John Stagliano's trial, presumably for Rolling Stone [Abowitz has been covering the music scene for them since 1996], but there might be a hitch.
When Abowitz told Rolling Stone, Stagliano was his friend, the conflict of interest angle was considered and the magazine felt that Abowitz needed to acknowledge that in the story. Nonetheless, it might still be a deal breaker. In any event, if RS passes, Abowitz resorts to Plan B - covering the trial for the Libertarian publication, Reason, and he'll be blogging every day after court.
"I am shocked he [Stagliano] might go to jail and am determined to bring as much attention to his case as I can," says Abowitz.
The man about town, Abowitz has been covering Las Vegas for over a decade. He is the author of hundreds of articles (cover stories, features, columns and reviews) for Las Vegas Weekly and other publications.
