Story of the Day: “The Wealthiest Porn Stars of All Time”?

from www.creativeloafing.com – Porn is not only tempting for fans, but also for young women seeking fame, fortune, and a career. While the majority of actresses get into the business at the amateur level, believing webcam work will lead to Playboy photo shoots or Hollywood acting gigs, most burn out after six months. Why? Probably because many don’t treat porn like a profession.

However, there is money to be made on the acting level if you manage your career correctly. Here’s a list of seven such adult actors/actresses who have played their cards correctly and are the wealthiest pornstars in the business (as ranked by popcrunch.com).

7: Houston became notorious in 1999 after enduring The World’s Biggest Gangbang 3: The Houston 500, in which she had sex with 620 men consecutively. That same year she reportedly earning $1 million. At the height of her fame she also received $20,000 a week for strip club appearances. She attempted to cross over into mainstream media with cameos in music videos, and she even released a single, “What Do You Want From Me?” in 2003.

Houston was also noted for having her labia surgically trimmed and auctioning off to a fan for an estimated $10,000. Also in 1999, a radio station set Houston up as the prom date for an 18-year-old high school student. The two then had a relationship which culminated in the teen moving to California with the pornstar.

6: Hillary Scott [pictured] signed a million dollar contract with SexZ Pictures for four years. Despite her high earning contract, Scott didn’t start out as a flawless starlet. She acted in several gonzo/amateur films which featured her performing rough anal sex. In 2005 she upgraded, staring in the larger budget feature, Darkside with Penny Flame. She has since won several AVN awards.

5: Maria Takagi/Rika Inoue was a teen pop star in Asia before crossing over into adult entertainment. Now she’s Japan’s most recognized and highest paid pornstar. She has a contract with Max A for $2.6 million.

4: Ron Jeremy — no other pornstar can claim they’ve acted in hardcore porn films since the creation of the genre. He got into the industry after leaving his special-ed teaching career to pursue acting in New York City. He then posed for Playgirl after his then-girlfriend submitted his photo to the magazine. Jeremy is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for “Most Appearances in Adult Films” with more than 2,000 movies. While his modern physical appearance may not feed many women’s sexual fantasies, his looks have made him a recognizable and marketable personality in mainstream media. His financial success may also be in part due to the fact that he’s a notorious penny pincher who travels with grocery sacks for luggage and does his food shopping in his friends’ pantries. If you want to meet and be fondled by the porn icon, he’ll be hosting the Night Moves adult awards show in Tampa this October, as he does every year.

5: Jesse Jane reportedly got into the business after reading an article on the success of Tera Patrick. She contacted Patrick’s production company, Digital Playground, and soon signed a contract with them. Her career exploded after appearing in the erotic film series Pirates, part of which was filmed in Tampa. Although she only acts in a handful of x-rated films a years, she continues to bank on her image in different ways. Jane has her own line of sex toys and has made many appearances in mainstream media. She also does many featured appearances at strip clubs. If you want to meet Jane, and even request a private audience with her, she will be feature dancing live in October at Bare Assets in Holiday Florida.

2: Tera Patrick has said: “When I got into the industry, I made millions for everyone else. Now I make them for myself.”

Patrick began her career as a runway and catalog model. She has since appeared in Playboy and Penthouse, where she was the “Pet of the Month” for February 2000. In 2006, Patrick and her then-husband launched a talent agency representing adult models and actor/actresses. She also owns a production company called Teravision that is reportedly worth $30 million though it only releases fifteen films a year. The March 2007 DVD release of inTERActive set the record for the fastest selling Hustler release ever. In 2008, Patrick began hosting the Playboy TV show, School Of Sex.

1: Jenna Jameson is the only porn personality other than Ron Jeremy who can claim to be a pop culture icon. Like Scott, she didn’t start out as the prettiest girl on the scene, but that didn’t stop her from climbing the ranks. “The Queen of Porn” began acting in erotic videos in 1993 after stripping in Las Vegas. By 1996, she won the “top newcomer” award from all three major porn-movie organizations. She has since won more than 20 adult-video awards.

She founded the adult-entertainment company ClubJenna in 2000 with Jay Grdina, whom she later married and divorced. Initially a single website, this business expanded to manage other stars’ websites and began producing videos in 2001. It’s first film, Briana Loves Jenna, was named the best-selling and best-renting porn title for 2002. By 2005, ClubJenna had profits at $15 million. Playboy has since purchased the company for an undisclosed sum.
