from www.cbsnews.com – CNET reports according to AllThingsD, Time Warner Cable is feeling the pain of making far less money out of videos of the kinky kind.

Time Warner Cable CEO Glenn Britt told the news site, “One of the things going on with VOD is that there’s been fairly steady trends over some time period now for adult to go down, largely because there’s that kind of material available on the Internet for free. And that’s pretty high margin. That’s been not just this quarter, but going on for some time period.”

In other words, since you can get porn for free online via streaming sites that are similar to how YouTube operates, people are downloading pricy porn on their TVs via on demand less and less.

CNET’s Chris Matyszczyk turned to his own Comcast guide to see what kind of porn was available on cable and at what cost. He found that “Hot and Horny Girls Touching” will set you back $9.99, which doesn’t even include fees and taxes. “It is one hour long and may involve only touching,” he adds. Then there’s “Wet Beach Booty,” a 90-minute film, that costs $11.99 – again, plus fees and taxes.

Wow – steep! So we’re not surprised by what Britt said about Time Warner Cable’s shriveling adult income, which has represented a third of its drop in profits.

Would you shell out double digits to maybe watch something you like? (I mean, you really won’t know it’s what you’re looking for until you see it in its entirety, right? That title and description can only tell you so much.)
