Woman Sues Strip Club for Charging Women More

All women are admitted free to www.adultcybermart.com

from www.washingtonexaminer.com – A woman is suing a strip club for sex discrimination because she said the bar charges women twice as much as men to enter the bar.

An attorney for Ericka Wiggs said she and her husband went to The Mile High Club in Clinton in February to wind down from a long work week, but they didn’t stay long because Wiggs was so angry over the nude dance club’s policy to charge men a $10 cover charge and women $20.

“She was [upset],” said her attorney Jimmy A. Bell. “She couldn’t do anything else that night.”

Wiggs, 36, of White Plains, filed the lawsuit on Monday in Prince George’s County Circuit Court, and is seeking $200,000 in damages. She is also asking a judge to immediately end the strip club’s practice of charging women more than men.

“We can’t wait for them to try to explain their policy at the injunction hearing,” Bell said. “There is no possible way that a judge will rule in their favor based on these facts and under the laws of Maryland and Prince George’s County.”

An employee reached at the club on Monday told The Washington Examiner that he could not comment and that his bosses were not available.

The lawsuit cites two cases in Maryland. In 1995, Tully’s restaurant in Baltimore was ordered to end its ladies’ night promotion that charged men full prices for drinks and women half price. In 1986, a Prince George’s County delicatessen changed its ladies’ night after a customer complained, and responded with a “Skirt and Gown Night” in which customers who wore dresses or skirts were given half off on meals. A court of special appeals ruled that “Skirt and Gown Night” was discriminatory, Bell said.

According to the lawsuit against The Mile High Club:

Wiggs took her husband to the bar as reward for his hard work on the night of Feb. 18.

At the door, an employee told the couple that it cost them $30. Wiggs’ husband asked why it cost so much because it had only cost him $10 during a previous visit, the suit said. The employee pointed to a sign that read, “$10 gentlemen, $20 ladies.”

Wiggs paid the $30 cover with her credit card and snapped a picture of the sign. She and her husband had a single drink, but Wiggs felt humiliated and went home.
