Ten Facts About Porn Industry: ‘All Time 10s’ Video Shows How Big The Adult Industry Is

from www.huffingtonpost.com – Right now, 30,000 people are watching porn. And to meet that vast demand, a new porn video is produced every 39 minutes.

That’s according to YouTube channel All Time 10s, which has compiled 10 incredible facts about the porn industry (video above). Our favorite: 20 percent of men admit to accessing porn while at work. Also, 25 to 33 percent of the people who watch Internet porn are women… although only two percent of paying porn site subscribers are female.

And with all those men watching, female porn performers get paid better. While female performers often earn between $600 and $1,000 for a scene, men are usually only paid less than $150 for a scene, according to All Time 10s.

Here’s a surprise. Professional porn actors are 80 percent less likely to have an STD than members of the public of the same age, according to the channel. Although that hasn’t stopped the AIDS Healthcare Foundation from pushing this Nov. 6 ballot Measure B, which would require porn actors to wear condoms on set.

Porn actors are criticizing the measure and even made a spoof video saying that, if Measure B passes, they’ll eventually have to wear hazmat suits and gloves on set. Still, they have it much better than in some foreign countries.

In North Korea and Iran, producing and distributing porn may be punishable by death, according to All Time 10s.

In the US, most politicians know that it’s wise to not touch the porn industry because of all its fans. However, the GOP did add to its platform at this year’s convention a call for more “vigorous” enforcement of pornography and obscenity laws, which is largely why industry folk say they’ll vote for Obama.

Is it a problem that the industry is so large? It is for people concerned about children watching porn and for those who claim that porn causes sexual dysfunction and even the breakup of marriages.

However, with porn making up 30 percent of all the data transferred across the net, according to All Time 10s, one thing is clear. The industry is not going anywhere.
