from www.koaa.com – On December 20, 2012, Amanda Rowles, a former teacher at the Calhan School was arrested by the Aurora Police Department and booked into the Aurora City Jail on $50,000 bond reference a sexual assault on a child investigation conducted by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Earlier this school year, the Sheriff’s Office received information from administrators at the Calhan School of a possible sexual relationship between former Calhan School teacher, 27 year old Amanda Rowles, and a former student.

During the course of the investigation, detectives from the Sheriff’s Office conducted numerous interviews and determined that two male students, who were each under 18 years of age when the activity began, had a sexual relationship with Ms. Rowles while she was employed there as a teacher. The unlawful activity occurred over the course of the 2011-2012 school year. Ms. Rowles did not teach at the Calhan School the following year and moved to the Denver Metro area.

Ms. Rowles is charged with:

CRS 18-3-405.3 Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust – 2 counts (Class 3 Felony)
CRS 18-3-405 Sexual Assault on a Child / Pattern of Abuse – 2 counts (Class 3 Felony)
