Porn Valley- Know how you’re in the middle of a conversation and someone tosses in a word or a name of someone and you have a flashback? John Bowen, aka John T. Bone, had one of those today during a phone interview with the Sports Swami. The interview is scheduled to air next Friday and Bowen described it as an amiable chat that covered a lot of territory in its 25 minutes.
Bowen also mentions the fact that Swami seems to have a hair up his ass about Ron Jeremy but that was a subject better discussed off the air.
“We also talked about the HIV-thing in Brazil,” says Bowen. “We talked about the porn company in Brazil that’s owned by two sisters.” Bowen mentions that they also gossiped about some of his former contract girls.
“There was a touch of everything- nothing in great depth,” is the way Bowen describes the interview. “It was very pleasant. He asked enough questions to keep me going. It was a matter of pushing the buttons and setting me off, though I don’t think this will set the world on its ear.”
But one of Swami’s topics of conversation- Rob Black- got Bowen in his Niagara Falls, slowly I turn, step by step, inch by inch lather. Bowen makes it a frequent point to note that Black has made a career out of stealing his ideas and movies; sometimes his contract girls, like Jasmin St. Claire, and in one instance, his props.
“Rob’s lived his life by copying my act,” Bowen swears. And that’s where the name Israel Gonzalez springs up, but it was after the fact of the Swami interview. Bowen said he started thinking about Gonzalez later.
Gonzalez, who used to work for Bowen, was shot dead in a police altercation at the Elegant Angel warehouse seven years ago. During the shootout, Glendale Detective Charles Lazzaretto was also killed. “This all happened when Rob Black was still at Elegant Angel,” Bowen states. “Israel got whacked on drugs one night.”
Bowen also remembers another instance where he fired a gun at Gonzalez. “I shot at him- it was when he was still on my payroll but he was working for Rob behind my back. He was stealing all my stuff [props].” Bowen said he used to keep his props in an area over his garage.
“Rob was having him steal all my props; and one night like one or two o’clock in the morning I could hear someone in the backyard. I get out of bed. I have a .40 caliber pistol and I’m out on the balcony with this gun. All of a sudden I see this figure running across the yard. I took a shot at him. It turned out it was Gonzalez. And the funny thing was he was driving one of my cars. He had my little Miata with his girlfriend in the alleyway. He was loading stuff to give it to Rob.” I argue that there couldn’t be much to give, given the fact that Miatas aren’t exactly your basic hauling vehicles. Bowen corrects me to note that Gonzalez had a trailer hitched to the back of the car.
“Then I realized I missed him and wondered where the bullet went.” Bowen later found a bullet hole in his garage door and immediately thought that he must have shot his Rolls Royce. “Instead the bullet went into a handrail,” Bowen says. “I would rather have shot Gonzalez than the Rolls Royce.”
